Wednesday Wusings: Big Changes Ahead for Bronze?

We played a great game on Sunday night in our 4-0 shutout of the Phantoms: from our goaltender to our defense, to all of our forwards.  It takes a lot to keep the Phantoms off the scoreboard.  They have some talented runners-and-gunners on that team and it takes a team effort to defeat the reigning Bronze League champs.  RDA had another statistically good night, combining for three goals and four assists.

You’ll forgive me if I sound like I’m gloating.  We just never had the chance to say we beat the Phantoms in two tries last season, so this one felt good.  But, we can’t rest on our laurels.  I’m quite sure the Phantoms were not happy with their effort, and will be especially motivated when we play them for the third and last time this season in February.

Before this game, Yama2 presented the Canucks jersey that the team bought for me.  They didn’t have to go to that effort, but the jersey looks great, and I really appreciate it.  I’ll try to get a picture of it up soon. Thanks guys!

Monday Musings: Cranky, cranky

It was an odd night in the Bronze League last Sunday.

This Sunday should be interesting

As Puck Hogs player Yama 2 puts it:

Isnt it kind of odd that the Kodiaks (2-1) and the Phantoms (2-1) tied for 2nd/3rd will be playing Sunday while we (3-0) play the Volcanoes (3-0) for 1st/2nd?  Almost like it was planned this way 4 games in?  Seems like a playoff night.  Ok reading this, it does not seem that odd, but it really is, matching records on matching nights to decide alot. 

There’s going to be some sorting out of the Bronze League this weekend.  It’ll be interesting to see where the chips fall at the end of Sunday.

And… I’m back!

I’ve been on vacation for the past week, and only returned late Sunday night to see my team defeat the Phantoms for the first time ever.  Clearly, this team is better without me!

After playing one preseason game, I went to Toronto to attend a friend’s wedding and also with the mission to visit the Hockey Hall of Fame and get my picture taken with the Stanley Cup.  I went to the wedding but as for the Cup, mission FAILED.  I got close though – I met a friend and ate lunch not one block from the HHOF, but I couldn’t convince her to join me on a tour through the Hall.  Next trip, hopefully.

In the meantime, I’ve missed a bunch of hockey – two games.  I’m not sure my team noticed though.  They’ve played well and the new guys have fit in seamlessly, from what I’ve heard.  That’s great news and it’s nice to see the team come together and play well without me fussing over every little thing.  Not that they couldn’t organize things without me, but I always felt some pressure to make sure everyone was on the same page.  Obviously, these are guys I don’t have to worry about. 

So, after two weeks of no updates, I’m back in the swing of things for this blog and our main website.  But, most importantly, I can’t wait to get back on the ice again.
