Monday Musings: Don’t call it a comeback
We stemmed the tide. On Sunday night we looked like the Hogs of old, which is odd to say because the Hogs aren’t even two seasons old.
After our two losses in a row, we did a bit of soul searching as a team during the last week and made some adjustments to our lines. Everyone came to the game inspired. We put together a strong performance, but unfortunately for the Rotties, it was against them. While we can’t really be proud of a 10-0 win, I am proud of the guys for playing much better hockey this week. Blowing another team out is not fun, but at this point in the season we needed to work on getting our game back together. We still have some work to do but I think we’re definitely headed in the right direction.
Our game against the Kodiaks next week and the Pints the week after will be a good test of our new “old attitude”. The two teams are playing well, so we’ll see where we are at going into the playoffs after those games.
And another thing…
We need to do something about team socks in our league!
We were the away team, so we wore our black uniforms, that included our black socks (on the left). The Rotties, as the home team, had white uniforms on, but were also wearing black socks (on the right). The similarity in socks made it confusing for us, because in the heat of the moment we’d take a glance up, see dark socks, and pass the puck to that person. Unfortunately, too many times those dark socks were on a Rotties player. In one play in the offensive zone, I did that very thing – I passed the puck to the point, who I thought was our guy, but was actually a Rottie. The pass was great though, right on his stick, and they got a good break out on it.
The league’s rules state that teams have to have matching home (white) and away (dark) jerseys for each player, but I think they should also require teams to have matching home and away socks as well.

-Way to “Sock it to ‘em”…
-Are we going to need a “Socks audit”?
-Maybe we should all go out to sushi and talk aboat it over some “Socky”! I’ll take the “Sock-eyed Salmon Roll” please.
I think I can speak for all goalies by saying “the same colored socks just totally “socks” when trying to defend against when everyone is crashing the net…”
